How to get to Styria ...
By public transport or by car – the green heart of Austria can be reached from any direction. With a bit of preparation and planning, nothing stands in the way of a relaxed journey to Austria's most popular holiday region.
A journey by train or bus – from the other federal states of Austria as well as from neighbouring countries such as Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary or Italy – is very relaxed and comfortable. Air travellers can land at Graz Airport, which is located not too far from the city centre. Travelling by car is easy from all directions, as Styria is very well connected to the motorway network.
... by car
If you prefer to stay independent and flexible, you might want to travel to the green heart of Austria by car. Whether you are coming from the north, south, west or east: It's easy to get to Styria. In order to avoid waiting times and traffic jams, it is advisable to take a look at the current traffic situation before you leave.
Please note: A toll sticker ("Vignette") is required on all Austrian motorways. Since 2018, it's also available in digital form. You can get it online, at automobile clubs, petrol stations and at border crossing points. A 10-day Vignette is suitable for short holidays. For longer or more frequent visits to Styria (and Austria in general), the two-month or one-year vignette is recommended.
