About the offer

This 5,5-hour tour starts at the confluence of the Saggau into the Sulm and leads over 11 kilometers to the Sulmbad to the Steinernen Wehr. The tour is more demanding but can be easily mastered by experienced hikers.

"Packing List" (please bring):

  • Bathing sandals, Crocs or shoes that can get wet
  • clothes suitable for the weather (T-shirt, shorts, fleece jacket ...)
  • Reserve clothing + towel (waterproof pack sacks are available)
  • Sun protection (headgear, sunscreen...)
  • drinking bottle for your own canoe
  • Personal items (camera ... valuables are carried communally in a waterproof box)

Arrival information

Arrival from Leibnitz via Heimschuh to Fresing. The entry point is located on the right bank of the Sulm, directly at the confluence of the Saggau and the Sulm on the bike path (for access see red arrows!). Canoeists from moving water are residents and as such may use the bike path considerately.

If possible, please form car pools (possibly arrange a meeting point at the Sulmbad to the Steinernes Wehr in Kaindorf and continue together to the entry point).

Within the framework of his experience-oriented leisure offer "River hiking with open canoes", "Urgestein" Markus Grabler and his team would like to bring natural spaces and river landscapes closer to interested people in a vivid and tangible way.

River hiking with open canoes makes it possible to get to know and appreciate the landscape from a new perspective. When planning an individual tour, in addition to our standard offer on the Sulm and Raab, there is also the possibility to choose other rivers (e.g. Mur, Save, Gail ...) or to adjust the tour duration.
