From the old town to the historic mill
From the brook to the mill. On a guided tour of the town, the secret of the town stream is revealed. In the 21st century, it meanders through Hartberg's pedestrian zone as the Stone River. In the Middle Ages, flowing from the Ringkogel towards the city, up to ten mills rattled along the course of the stream. In one of these mills, which is almost 500 years old, grain is still freshly processed today.
After the tour of the old town, we visit the mill. Veronika and Roman, the millers, will give you a warm welcome.
From grain to flour. According to artisan tradition, the Posch family is already producing its high-quality grain products in the third generation. The mill is not a museum, it is still daily ground, sifted, further processed and sold. Just as the Sacher cake belongs to Vienna, the Sterz belongs to Styria. Veronika gives insight into the tradtion of the Sterzkochens and serves delicious Heidensterz, a Styrian specialty.
