On September 22nd, the newly designed museum area Murtalbahn and Winter Tourism - "Next Stop: Winter Sports" will be opened at the Murau Museum of Crafts. Curated by Uli Vonbank-Schedler and Gundi Jungmeier.
With the opening of the Murtalbahn in 1894, the region was connected to the international rail network. The railroad was primarily designed for freight transport. In addition to other passengers, it also brought the first winter sports guests to Murau, where the winter sports association was an early advocate for the creation of appropriate structures. The redesign of this area is a search for traces of the links between the Murtalbahn and the beginnings of winter sports in Murau.
