The City Theatre Murau is performing the swinging operetta "Roxy and her miracle team" by Paul Abraham on two weekends, from 8 - 10 November 2024 and from 15 - 17 November 2024 in the Chamber of Labour Hall in Murau. Tickets can be pre-ordered online at www.stadttheater-murau.at/tickets.
After "The Flower of Hawai", the Murau Municipal Theatre is bringing another almost forgotten piece of musical history from the pen of Paul Abraham to the stage. The melodies are reminiscent of early Broadway musicals and will encourage the audience and performers alike to dance and sing along in this life-affirming revue.
Between tap-dancing athletes, jubilant Danube mermaids, ludicrous games of mistaken identity and jazzy sounds, anything is possible in this colourful jumble, this celebration of the spirit of sport and love, the rebellion of youth, the escape into carefreeness and freedom. And yet it also heralds the downfall of an (operetta) era: Paul Abraham's operettas in Berlin at the beginning of the 1930s saw a meteoric rise, only to be halted when the National Socialists came to power and he fled Germany. "Roxy and Her Miracle Team" brought the composer one last great success in Vienna before he had to flee fascism once again.
