A day in Weißkirchen - discovery bikes, glittering worlds and animal experiences

At the Laikamhof farm, we set off on an idyllic morning surrounded by vast, fabulous nature. We set off on a short hike through the forest with friendly alpacas in balmy summer morning temperatures. This is where energy awakens. The alpacas accompany us on our tour, frugal and cheerful, and we enjoy the cool forest temperatures.

However, it's not just cuddly soft alpacas that await guests at Laikamhof. There are also dairy cows, rabbits, cats, a dog, chickens and much more. Young visitors are invited to get to know life on the farm and are welcome to help the farm manager Maria with her work and look over her shoulder.

The cheerful morning round whets our appetite for more exercise. So we decide to cycle across Weißkirchen. The Nimm's Radl cycle node system makes it easy to plan our tour from point to point, from cycle node to cycle node, without losing our bearings. We enjoy the warm rays of sunshine and physical activity.

Refreshments are a must! After hiking and cycling, we get hungry and decide to stop off at the KuK Wirtshaus. Here we are spoilt like royalty with delicious original Wiener schnitzel and regional fish. The inn uses regional ingredients of the highest quality and you can taste it.

On our cycle tour through the harmonious village, we discovered Edelsteine Krampl. We are curious to see if there really are gemstones here and set off for this excursion destination. Here we find a glass factory where we can watch how the stones are cut. We also have the opportunity to watch the jewellers at work. A speciality here is the Zirbenland necklace, which is made exclusively from stones from the region, such as Pinolit magnesite. 

We are fascinated by the selection on offer here, be it jewellery, decorations or useful items for our everyday lives. The power of minerals is clearly tangible here. 

In the basement of the building, we discover the Crystal Worlds, which offers an extensive, fantastic exhibition of rare stones. Did you know that there are stones that glow in the dark? This excursion destination is definitely an attraction for young and old. Guided tours for groups and workshops can also be booked here by appointment.
