I am a Murtaler - Kühbrein Maschanzker

The Kühbreinhof is located idyllically and quietly at 900 metres above sea level between Gaal and Seckau. The region is not typical and preferred for fruit growing due to its rather cool temperatures. But this is what makes Kühbrein very special. Thanks to the most modern cellar technology and consistent further development, noble wines of the highest quality have been created here from the traditional farmer's drink must. About 5 years ago, Kühbrein Maschansker was born as the son of a 60-year-old apple tree. With 5 brothers and 4 cousins, he feels quite comfortable and in good hands in his family of apple wines and cider here.

"Still waters run deep" seems to be his motto. He isn´t an announcer and rests quietly in his glass at the first moment. But after a spicy fruity note at the beginning, the Maschanzker unfolds a multi-layered bouquet on the palate, that amazes. This refinement makes it the World Champion. At the Cider World Frankfurt, the special Murtaler got the first place with the maximum score of 120 points. The prize is one of the most prestigious awards on the scene and is, so to speak, the Oscar for ciders. It is of course a very special honour for us that the Maschanzker was able to bring this prize to us in the green Murtal.

He feels most at home accompanied by an elegant Styrian snack and likes to flirt with ripe cheese. His strong character with rough edges makes him a likeable guy you just have to fall in love with.

Kühbrein Maschanzker: "In the apple garden at the Kühbreinhof. Here I have an incredible view to the surrounding nature, i hear the bees buzzing and everything is simply right."

If you also want to get to know the Kühbrein Maschanzker and his family, you can do so at a wine tasting at the Kühbreinhof in the Gaal directly. Tasting sessions can be booked at the farm for groups of 6 persons or more. On request, the tasting can also be organised accompanied by a Styrian snack and you can enjoy the taste of the Murtal to the fullest.
