Place of Silence

The morning sunshine draws us to the Ingering lake. Here we find an absolute power spot. The crystal-clear mountain lake lies quietly and harmoniously in front of us, which you can drive straight to in spring and summer. The idyllic surroundings encourage us to take a walk around the lake. Of course, we can't miss a quick look at the Klementikapelle chapel. The scent of Swiss stone pine fills our nostrils as we enter the chapel and our gaze is almost magically drawn to the stunning view of the lake behind the altar.

Full of energy and gently decelerated, we continue on our way to Seckau.

Devout in the abbey in Seckau

The abbey in Seckau welcomes us in overwhelming splendour. The Benedictine abbey is still inhabited by monks, who also run a grammar school here. Every year, a varied cultural programme attracts visitors to the sacred halls of the abbey, which was first mentioned in Seckau in 1142. A monastery shop invites you to enjoy a shopping experience between monastery rusks and schnapps distilled in the monastery. In keeping with the motto ‘World of the monks’, guided tours are offered for groups, which can be booked all year round by prior arrangement.

The Habsburg mausoleum and the bishop's chapel are particularly impressive. We leave the huge abbey complex in awe.

Heavenly pampering

Hunger leads us directly opposite to the Gasthof zu Post run by the Puster family. Typical Styrian culinary delights await us here and we can fortify ourselves. The rustic ambience and warm hospitality inspire us.

Sweet sin

Of course, dessert is a must in Seckau! The Regner patisserie is just a few doors down. The world champion confectioner produces marvellous, well-known gingerbread, sweet cakes and delicious ice cream. Sweet sins are authorised here near the abbey. Here you will also find plenty of gifts for your loved ones.
