Medieval traces

The Norse road led many Romans through the Murtal. Archaeologically, our region is considered very precious. The Falkenberg working group wanted to focus on this and opened the Museum Murtal in the former Minorite monastery in Judenburg on 08th of November 2019. Since then, more than 5,000 visitors have been welcomed and many projects, such as with various schools, have been realised.

The eye-catching centrepiece of the museum is the widely known Strettweger Kultwagen. But it is not the only one which amazes the visitors. Many finds around the Celtic grave inspire museum lovers.

The new special exhibition continues.....

Impressive pieces have been found throughout the Murtal. Ceramics and tiles from the Ruine Eppenstein, coin treasures from the Pölstal, belt sets and buckles from St. Georben ob Judenburg, gravestones and much more. The special exhibition is opened until autumn 2023 and takes you through the archaeology of the Murtal since 1981. Be curious about what awaits you!
