Spicy and tasty - that's how this week's Murtaler presents itself. Murtaler Steirerkäse is simply part of a real snack in our region. But not all Steirerkäse is the same. In an interview we discovered the differ

Make a difference

Murtaler Steiererkäse is a cooked cheese that has been seasoned with spices such as caraway and salt. Unlike Ennstaler Steirerkäse, Murtaler is not a crumbly cheese but firm to the bite. Whether on delicious, fresh brown bread, with a hearty Brettljause (snack) or melted over egg dishes or as a soup - Steirerkäse simply belongs to the Murtal.

Many farms in the region produce the cheese according to their own secret recipe. Here, the ripened skimmed curd is seasoned and boiled up by adding butter and milk. If you discover white dots in Murtaler Steirerkäse, this is a sign of genuine handicraft.

Taste that convinces

Erlebnisregion Murtal: "What connects you with the Murtal?"

Murtaler Steirerkäse: "I bring spice and flavour to life and I am quite versatile. As a soup I am warming, I accompany snacks elegantly and underline them with spiciness and as Murtaler Steirerkäsebrot I strengthen every hiker after his summit victory. The Murtal is just as versatile."

Erlebnisregion Murtal: "When do you feel the heartbeat in the Murtal?"

Murtaler Steirerkäse: "When I notice that someone is enjoying me to the fullest, of course that always makes me extraordinarily happy."

Erlebnisregion Murtal: "Where is your favourite place in the Murtal?"

Murtaler Steirerkäse: "I can relax wonderfully on a crusty, fresh piece of farmhouse bread."
