I am a Murtaler - Schneeberger Pass

  • 2 minutes of reading time
The listed Schneebergerhaus and Schneebergerkapelle chapel are located on a gentle hill. An eerily beautiful experience awaits you here on Saturday 9.11. With the birth of the “Schneeberger Pass”, the Mur Valley has gained a very special Krampus group.

Mystically traditional

From Saturday 09.11., the newly founded Krampus group Schneeberger Pass in Pölstal brings a breath of fresh air to the traditional Krampus culture of the region. This dedicated group, led by chairman Heinz Brandl, has set itself the goal of combining old customs with modern elements while preserving the mysticism and fascination of the Krampus run. The Schneeberger Pass aims to inspire both locals and visitors for the Krampus tradition and relies on handmade masks and costumes that have been designed with great attention to detail.

The aim is to preserve the Krampus tradition in its original form, but at the same time create a family-friendly approach. The performances of the Schneeberger Pass are therefore not only gruesome and impressive, but also invite families with children to experience the tradition up close.

With their passion and respect for the traditions of the region, the Schneeberger Pass sends a strong signal for the cohesion and cultural identity of the Pölstal and creates a new attraction for guests who want to experience Alpine customs.

Historical roots

The Schneebergerhaus gives the group its name. It looks back on a long and important history. It was originally built as a refuge for miners and travelers in the region and served as a safe haven in the mountains for many decades. Over time, the building developed into an important meeting place for hikers, nature lovers and mountaineers, who stopped here for a rest and refreshment.

Thanks to its idyllic location in the middle of the alpine landscape, the Schneebergerhaus is now not only a historic building, but also a popular destination for excursions. It combines rustic charm with traditional hospitality and conveys an authentic piece of regional culture and history.
