I am a Murtaler - Tower in the Mountains

Since 1999, a very special Murtaler has been enthroned in the Seckau Alps in the Murtal in Styria. The tower in the mountains sits on the Tremmelberg at 1194 meters and looks stately over the surrounding landscape. A popular destination for hikers and families, which impresses with its view and beautiful nature.

True to the motto "All roads lead to the Tremmelberg", the popular hiking destination can be discovered via several tours. Regardless of whether you are a sports fan or a enjoying hiker, the tower in the mountains is a centre of attraction for many nature enthusiasts. The elaborate 41-meters-high larch construction, which actually consists of two towers connected by a platform, was opened in 1999. 202 steps lead up to the plateau, where visitors can enjoy an overwhelming view. However, hiking enthusiasts who want to storm the tower should bear in mind to bring € 2 for the turnstile at the entrance to the tower.

Joy for hikers

Since May of this year, the snack station at the tower in the mountains has been open again. From Wednesday to Sunday from 8 a.m., Helga spoils her guests with hearty sandwiches, fortifying soups and refreshing drinks. In the guest garden under the imposing tower, hikers can gather their strength in a wonderful way. Helga asks for your understanding that the guest garden is reserved for her guests during the opening hours of her snack station. For those who prefer to eat their own snacks, there is a seating area behind the hut with a great view of the region. The snack station is still opened until the beginning of winter, when Helga and the tower in the mountains will take their winter break.

Tower in the Mountains: "My naturalness and love of motorsport. On the Tremmelberg, I'm practically in a VIP lounge with a view directly onto the race track, the Red Bull Ring. Here I can watch the exciting races from a distance, but also enjoy nature and have my peace and silence."

Erlebnisregion Murtal: "When do you feel the heartbeat in the Murtal?"

Tower in the Mountains: "When a Eurofighter flies past me, it is very impressive. Due to my own altitude and the additional altitude of the Tremmelberg of 1194 meters, I am quite high, so when a plane flies past, I almost feel like I can greet the pilot."

Erlebnisregion Murtal: "Where is your favorite place in the Murtal?"

Tower in the Mountains: "At the Red Bull Ring. I think you have already interviewed the bull from there. The rascal revealed that he sometimes visits me up here and that this is one of his favorite places. He tells me stories about the racing action right at the race track. It's a really great place. But certainly I love my Tremmelberg and enjoy the peace and silence here."
