The Suderei is a brewery in Leutschach that was founded by Mr. Juri, a high school teacher. He originally started brewing beer in 2017 as a project for his students in his garage. The aim was to teach students practical skills in areas such as calculation, chemistry and graphic design. Due to increasing demand, an old cowshed was converted into a professional brewery in 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic.
Mr. Juri uses natural hops that his father-in-law grows himself - a difference to many other breweries. Each batch is 250 liters and he offers 10 to 12 types of beer all year round. He regularly develops new creations together with his students. Beer styles include Vienna Lager, s'Hopfige, s'Rote, Pale Ale, New England IPA, Hemp, IPA, Stout, Hopfenbock, Honignock and Weizen, with the range varying seasonally. The beers are available from the farm and in the Klapothek. They can also be sampled at Rebenlandhof Resch, Lieperts and Sabathihof Dillinger. A tasting of five different beers, including a short explanation, costs 15 euros per person. In addition, Mr. Juri occasionally organizes special events such as crate roasts or burger-and-beer evenings, which offer beer lovers a special culinary experience.
