Emmauskapelle

Wies

The Emmaus Chapel is the center of the village Wernersdorf. It is a devotional chapel in which 14 works by the artist Gerald Brettschuh can be admired. The life-size figures of saints encourage not only soothing contemplation but also serious consideration of religious themes. The altarpiece depicts the climax of the Emmaus story in a particularly impressive way. The architectural interior design is by DI Christiane Brettschuh. Every Easter Monday, the chapel is the destination of the EmmausGang, a star walk in the early morning hours by pilgrims from surrounding parishes. A highlight of the EmmausWalk on Easter Monday is the FIRST presentation of the EmmausWine. The EmmausWine is a special quality wine of the EmmausWinemakers from Wernersdorf. Only 777 bottles are marketed annually through a community pool. A special honor was given to the EmmausWein - Jg. 2011 in the Vatican as a Mass wine. Chapel tours, on request with tasting of EmmausWein, by appointment.
