BRILLIANT FINESSE, MAGNIFICENT MINERALITY
Our vines are rooted in the best vineyards in the Sausal wine-growing region of southern Styria.
Close to nature and gently ...
... we cultivate them at an altitude of 420 to 620 meters above sea level. You can taste that too, because our high quality wine grows in the vineyard.
The resulting drops get their character and uniqueness from the soil and the special microclimate, as we find it only here. Predominantly limestone-free, Paleozoic primary rock provides the brilliant finesse and wonderful minerality in our wines.
The high quality is also strongly and above all positively influenced by the somewhat cooler climate at our "altitudes". Convince yourself by visiting us directly at the winery.
Besides the warm winds ...
... that roam along the Sulm Valley here, the soil in particular represents a particularly positive whim of nature. The nutrient-rich topsoil is about 15,000 years old.
The Sausaler Stock, as such the primary rock is called, has however a much older geological history. These rock formations are assigned to the Paleocene age and are about 60 million years old. The slate rock forms the basis to give the wine of this region a special depth, longevity and elegant minerality.
The knowledge of this extraordinary soil composition makes it possible to press regionally typical wines and to sustainably cultivate this cultural landscape, which is characterized by steep vineyards.
In the wine cellar the cellar master ...
... the quality of the vineyard into the bottle. Until it is so far many steps are necessary. These are influenced by man with his know-how and the traditions of the land.
We achieve the high quality of our wines only through consistent quality specifications. All our wines are vinified in stainless steel tanks or in small and large oak barrels. Every single variety is accompanied by us, individually, until the finished wine.
We are very proud of this.
