A book presentation for anyone interested in the history, cuisine and culture of the magnificent “Istrian Riviera”.
Following his bestsellers “The Rilke Trail” and “The Slovenian Riviera”, Carinthian author and lawyer Janko Ferk has visited “The Istrian Riviera”, which he likes to call Old Austria. He describes the beautiful places from Savudrija via Novigrad and Pula to Medulin in an entertaining way. Of course, Poreč and Rovinj are also included on the trip. The book is full of personal tips on culinary delights, sights and accommodation.
The distinguished photographer Helmuth Weichselbraun has illustrated “The Istrian Riviera” excellently.
About the author: Janko Ferk lives and works in Klagenfurt/Celovec. He studied law, German philology and history at the University of Vienna. He received his doctorate with a thesis on the philosophy of law in Franz Kafka. He is a lawyer, honorary professor at the University of Klagenfurt/Univerza v Celovcu and writer. He has published more than forty books to date, most recently the short story “Mein Leben. My Books” (2022) and travel monographs about the Alps-Adriatic region. He has received numerous awards and prizes for his literary and scientific work, most recently the Decoration of Honor of the Province of Carinthia (2020).
