From Mozart to Falco!
Wolfgang Ambros meets Thelonious Monk, Johann Nestroy Cole Porter, Johann Strauss Chick Corea. The "Great Austrian Songbook" sees itself as a bridge between the "Great American Songbook" and selected pieces, artists and trends in Austrian entertainment and popular music from the 19th to the 21st century. Fragments and motifs from well-known melodies were deconstructed and reconstructed and completely new compositions were created against the backdrop of Austrian musical tradition. "Schifoan" as a swing, Marianne Mendt's "Glockn" as a ballad and Mozart's sounds mixed with groovy Falco references. This cultural cross-over was achieved by jazz pianist Lukas Meißl, who, together with his band, the "OSTstyrian Rhythm Section" (Maximilian Kreuzer on bass and Andreas Reisenhofer on drums), takes "Homo Austriacus" on a joyful musical journey.
