Despite the unfinished text, an event hall still under construction and various mishaps, Walter remains optimistic. To make matters worse, uninvited guests populate the artists' dressing room. The mayor and other intruders create chaotic conditions in the backstage area. The only quiet thing in the room is the water. Before it tears Walter apart, he hangs his thin suit of nerves on the hook and throws on the thick coat.
