The Eight Cellists of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1980. Numerous renowned Austrian composers have written works for the ensemble. In the following ten years, over 100 concerts were given in Austria and abroad. The "Eight" has been back since 2005, with mostly new members.
Eight cellos on stage - that is a special kind of event! This line-up makes it possible to explore the most diverse sound spaces. The musical ideas are realized by drawing on the diversity of the instrument. This ranges from the virtuoso brilliance of the soprano to the sweet sonority of eight tenors and the full bass foundation.
A particular concern, however, is to reveal unknown dimensions of supposedly well-known works through the new instrumentation. The arrangements are true to the original, not a single note is new. Only doublings have been deleted and octaves adjusted.
Tickets can be booked with or without culinary delights.
If you decide to attend the concert with culinary delights afterwards, you can expect a buffet of seasonal and regional delicacies served by the in-house kitchen at Seggau Castle.
