After 23 wonderful years with the Styrian Boogie Woogie event in Wildon and Arnfels, it is time to end at the climax. This year we have come up with a very special idea and asked the protagonists of the first major event in this series 20 years ago to take to the stage once again:
Axel Zwingenberger, the world's best pianist of this genre, who will be performing for the 20th time, will of course be there this year. His career has taken him to all continents of the world, and for 5o years he has toured with jazz greats such as Lionell Hampton, Red Holloway and Charley Watts.
Martin Pyrker, born in Vienna, together with Axel Zwingenberger, Georg Möller and Vince Weber, founded the European Boogie Woogie wave with their legendary concert in Vienna and the following LP in 1976, which still fascinates young pianists today. He has been touring for years with his daughter Sabine, who accompanies him on drums,
Michael Hortig, who has also been playing blues and boogie woogie for 48 years, is also part of the first generation of European blues and boogie musicians. It is thanks to his connections that the best pianists have been presented in Styria over the last 23 years.
