View round - Flow experience at the giant

Open
Signposted mountain bike tour no. 101 The giant in this case is the range of hills of the Kapunerkogel. The Kapuner represents on the one hand the border to Slovenia, but even more the arena for numerous incomparable mountain bike tours in south-western Styria as well as in neighbouring Slovenia.
The Kapunerkogel is certainly not a giant in terms of absolute height. But the effect that the Kapuner has on south-western Styria between Leutschach, Arnfels and Eibiswald is huge. The panoramic tour is particularly suitable for approaching the Kapunerkogel - perhaps as a prelude to your mountain bike holiday - and taking in the sight of it as well as the views from the tour into the Schilcherland. These magnificent panoramas combined with a stop at the Glirsch winery of the Krottmayer family or at the Kiefer fruit farm are in themselves unforgettable highlights of your cycling holiday in Southern Styria. In addition, the crowning second half of the mountain bike tour is a heart lifting flow feeling from Glirsch along the giant Kapuner back down to Feisternitz. From there you can comfortably roll back to the starting point at the church or to the open-air swimming pool in Eibiswald, or add the panorama tour (Eibiswald) with the Garber, Peiserhof and Pichlippi triad.

The "Aussichtstour" - flow experience at the foot of the giant is the tour of your choice if you want to

  • want to start or end your cycling holiday in the Schilcherland with a short pleasure tour,
  • if you are looking for a mountain bike tour that your children can manage with a little practice and want to combine this with a cosy stop at one of the Schilcherland delicacies along the way,
  • would like to get to know the Glirsch winery, one of the most traditional Schilcher producers in south-western Styria,
  • want to taste apples, fruit juices, genuine Styrian pumpkin seed oil or wonderful brandies at the Kiefer fruit farm,
  • want to catch incomparable views of the impressive Kapunerkogel range of hills,
  • combine the Ausichtsrunde and the Panoramatour (Eibiswald) to create a 360-degree cycling experience around Eibiswald,
  • want to take your new mountain bike or e-bike out for the first time on a short test lap,
  • are looking for a cycling tour on your biking holiday after a long, hard tour the day before, where you can move your legs for a short time, but where relaxation and enjoyment should be in the foreground,
  • or if you want to make a very short detour to Schilcherland after a long day at work and are looking for a perfect transition to the end of the day or an end in a Buschenschank.

  • Start from the starting point at the church in Eibiswald in an easterly direction and always follow the green signs. The route is well signposted.
  • From the Perisutti care centre in Eibiswald, the route leads up several, sometimes quite crisp, shorter climbs via Sterglegg and Stammeregg to the old, beautiful Stindlweber farm.
  • The steeper climbs, known as "stitches" in cycling jargon, are replaced again and again by flatter sections that allow you to enjoy the wonderful views of the Remschnigg, over to the Koralm-Speik and into the Schilcherland. A few benches along the way invite you to take a little more time.
  • From Stindlweber you walk along the Kapunerkogel for a few hundred metres to Glirsch. Once you reach Glirsch, the difficulties of this route are overcome.
  • From Glirsch, the route continues with a few very short intermediate climbs, first at the foot of the giant Kapuner and then in a wonderful flow over the Kornriegl and Oberlatein down to Feisternitz.
  • From Feisternitz you finally roll out to Hörmsdorf, cross the B69 at Gasthof Romantikhof and finish your bike tour along the open-air swimming pool and the Ölspur campsite.
