Weg Nr. 1 Franz-Josef-Höhe

Your hike begins at the “Grüner Specht” inn and takes you across the church square to Bachstraße, past the “Nagelschmiedkreuz” and the biomass heating plant. After 200 meters, the path branches off to the right into the forest. A narrow path leads you to the viewing platform on Franz-Josef-Höhe with a magnificent view.
Your hike begins in front of the “Grüner Specht” inn and first takes you past St. Nicholas Church across the church square in the direction of “Blahbach”. After crossing the stream, walk east along Bachstraße to the “Nagelschmiedkreuz”. Continue along Franz-Josef-Straße, past the biomass heating plant. About 200 meters after the heating plant, the path branches off to the right into the forest. An idyllic path takes you past a small stream before you reach a forest path. Follow the path for about 100 meters and take the path on the right at the fork. The steadily ascending path will eventually take you to a cell phone mast. At the radio mast, turn left onto a path that leads you the last few meters to the viewing platform of the Franz-Josef-Höhe (1033 m). Once at the top, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the villages of St. Oswald and Unterzeiring as well as the Propstei and Hanfelden castles.
