Winery Neumeister - from the grape into the glass

Straden

About the offer

One-and-a-half-hour guided tour of the gravity cellar, including familiarisation with organic farming and
cultivation and tasting of selected wines from the range:

Visitors are given the opportunity to follow the path of the freshly harvested grapes through all the stations, in the gravity-fed cellar of the Neumeister winery in Straden, to the finished wine in the tasting glass. On the tour through the cellar, the winemaking process is explained in every step, and participants also receive exciting information about the certified organic-biological cultivation methods. The tour is rounded off at the end with a commented tasting of eight wines from the portfolio of the renowned winery that are particularly typical of the winery and the region.

About the serviceprovider

Christoph Neumeister is the third generation to run the renowned winery in Straden, Vulkanland Steiermark. The since 2013 organically cultivated vineyards are steep and feature meagre soils from calcareous sea sediments (sandstone, limestone, marl) and alpine gravel. The Illyrian-Pannonian climate with high precipitation levels can make cultivation challenging but allow a long growing season and late harvest. Selective hand picking, extended maceration time, spontaneous fermentation, long yeast contact and a late bottling lead to well-structured and elegant wines with focus on complexity and terroir.
