“From Life Between Heaven and Mountain” – popularly called “Oswaldikirche”, it is the largest and most important fortified church in Styria and one of the few fully preserved churches in Austria.
The church castle of St. Oswald has a long history dating back to 1190. After some additions and conversions of the fortified church, today in the fortified tower of the forework in the two lower floors, there is the display depot, which has been freely accessible since 2020.The exhibition on the lower floor shows the life, work and traditions of the miners. The upper floor gives a glimpse into the sky: into the piety of the Baroque period with the former Baroque church furnishings of St. Oswald.The multimedia exhibition offers visitors not only visually unique but also very personal insights into the lives of the miners.
