Road bike tour Pölstal

This pleasure tour takes us by racing bike from the Red Bull Ring to the Pölstal valley, where we can make a detour to the bathing pond to take a break or cool off.
This circular tour is especially popular for beginners on road bikes and for those who enjoy cycling. Parts of the route could even be ridden on cycle paths. However, the tour takes us along routes with little traffic. Due to the numerous town crossings - such as Fohnsdorf - Pöls - Judenburg and Zeltweg - there are also numerous stops for a good coffee or a snack.

More information

From the S36 take the exit Zeltweg Ost / Spielberg. Follow the signs to the Red Bull Ring.
From the Red Bull Ring we head west / Fohnsdorf - in the centre we head towards Pöls - here we follow the state road to the village of Pöls, then continue towards Katzling - from there we take the more heavily trafficked Bundesstrasse 114 - whereby it is downhill here. After Thalheim, however, we turn left and follow the municipal roads in the direction of Strettweg to Judenburg. The short climb into the old town is definitely worth it to take a short break in one of the guest gardens. Then we continue along the old town wall until after a few hundred metres we turn right in the direction of Weisskirchen. Here we also follow the R2 Murradweg. In Weisskirchen we come to a large roundabout which we leave in the direction of Fisching. Here the direction signs of the cycle node system already show us the way back in the direction of the Red Bull Ring.
Sporty ambitious riders add a mountain classification from Pölstal to Hohentauern.
The starting point of the tour is only a few kilometers from Knittelfeld train station or Zeltweg train station. So it's easy to start from the train station. If you use public transport, it would even be a good idea to end the round trip in Judenburg and get back on the train from here.
At the Red Bull Ring are sufficient parking spaces available, also refreshment facilities are given. During major events, access is not possible. In this case, we would recommend starting the tour at the Aqualux Spa in Fohnsdorf.
