Steinplan - Knittelfeld's local mountain

This e-bike tour from Knittelfeld in the Murtal adventure region in Styria is a successful mix of scenic attractions, a good place to stop for refreshments and a summit at 1670 metres above sea level with great views.
We cycle up the 1670 m high panoramic and local mountain of Knittelfeld via Kleinlobming. A softly shaped landscape with alternating forest and meadow areas and the houses and farms embedded in them is perfect for this e-bike tour. The view from the summit is impressive. We can see the Judenburg-Knittelfeld basin in the Murtal  region in Styria with the surrounding mountains of the Seetal, Wölz and Seckau Alps all the way to the Graz and Leibnitz basins.

More information

Via the S6 exit Knittelfeld Ost - at the roundabout in the direction of Großlobming
We follow the cycle junction system in the direction of the Mur. At point 56 we go via Großlobming to Kleinlobming. We follow the signposts in the direction of 66 through the Hintertal valley and the Perschengraben ditch. At a crossroads, we turn sharp left and come to the first gate. From here, the route continues uphill in serpentines to the Möschbaueralm. We pass the house and farm on the left and continue uphill along the main path. Gates may be locked on the ascent and the e-bike may have to be lifted over steps. When you arrive at the Steinplan refuge, Frida and Doris are happy to welcome you. The descent is via the access road from Knittelfeld on the right. Please watch out for car traffic! At junction 66 in Gobernitz, cross the Mur bridge, then immediately turn left and return to our starting point.
