Sch(m)ankerlweg - Ligister delicacies trail

While hiking, get to know the idyllic hilly landscape and the West Styrian delicacies at the gourmet stations! This is pure enjoyment!
The "Sch(m)ankerlweg" is a signposted circular trail that leads us through the cultural landscape typical of this region with its traditional orchards, meadows and the vineyards characteristic of the mild climate.

At the following gourmet stops, you will get to know the typical products of Western Styria:

- Learn all about bees and taste honey products at the Rosenzopf apiary

- Homemade snacks, juices and wine from Buschenschank Zach

- Homemade delicacies from our own production from Buschenschank Dokter

The farms, wine taverns and inns along the trails provide for our physical well-being and offer all kinds of delicacies from their own production. Cultural-historical evidence and information boards give us an insight into the farming methods of earlier times.

The length of the trail makes it ideal for all ages!

The Sch(m)ankerlweg (trail no. 14) takes about 1.5 hours and leads from the Ligist market square past the Ligist Museum (opposite the elementary school) directly to the historic wine press. From there you follow a slightly ascending path. The route continues along a forest and meadow path with panoramic views of Ligist and the Kainachtal valley to the Rosenzopf beekeeping farm. Here you can not only try out honey products, but also get interesting information about the life of bees. Passing the Huber Chapel on the right, the asphalted path now leads directly through the forest to the Buschenschank Zach, which offers regional delicacies and typical wines from Western Styria. The path leads you downhill through the orchards to the Dokter wine tavern. Here, too, you can sample delicacies and delicious regional fruit and wine products. Afterwards, the trail leads alongside the vineyards and along Grabenstrasse back to the market square in Ligist.
