Lamingtal Cycling Route R41
A true cycling delight! For the R41, the rule is: the further into the valley you go, the more rewarding it becomes. The valley end in Oberort near Tragöß is like an idyllic arena and offers panoramic views of the southern side of the Hochschwab.
Starting from Bruck an der Mur station, follow the R5 cycling route briefly along the Mürz River upstream. After the paper mill, cross the Mürz River and continue alongside the main road to Berndorf, reaching the city limits. From there, cycle along the Laming River and follow the main road or the cycling path to Unterort near Tragöß. Continue to the Zenzsee and then on field paths through the now wide valley floor to the Green Lake.
In autumn, the Green Lake almost completely dries out, but as the snowmelt begins, it fills with crystal-clear emerald green water, which appears colorless, yet the light refraction and the surrounding rocks give the water its stunning green hue.

From Vienna or from the south:
Take the S6 Semmering Schnellstraße and exit at Bruck an der Mur or Kapfenberg. From Kapfenberg, head towards Bruck an der Mur on the state road and turn off towards Tragöß/LKH Bruck.
Bruck an der Mur – St. Katharein / Laming – Tragöß – Grüner See
Starting from Bruck an der Mur, we follow the Laming Valley towards the Green Lake. The starting point is at the intersection of Wienerstraße and Tragösserstraße, with large signs pointing towards Tragöß (LKH Hochsteiermark). Alternatively, you can start at the Bruck an der Mur train station, follow the R5 Mürztal Cycling Path briefly towards Kapfenberg, and then turn onto L111 Tragösserstraße at LKH Hochsteiermark.
The first part of this cycle route lacks major highlights, and we mostly ride on L111 Tragösserstraße. About 1 km after Stegg, we can leave the main road. Cross left over a bridge (well-marked), and a section of R41 begins again. We switch between the cycle path and main road. However, from St. Katharein onwards, we mainly ride on the cycle path.
Following the Lamingbach River, we pass Zenz See and head towards Pichl Großdorf. From there, we continue along the wide valley floor, gently climbing to the parking areas at the Green Lake. After the first pond, it’s just a few more minutes to the R41 destination, the Green Lake with the Gasthof Seehof.
Don't forget your swimwear for a quick stop at the Zenzsee just before Tragöß.
The rock walls of Messnerin and Pripitz are clearly visible, and the towns are richly adorned with flowers. At the Gasthof Seehof, you can recharge and relax. The landscape becomes truly beautiful starting from Unterort.
