

Water hiking trail Krieglach
On the number 1 water hiking trail, which was awarded the Neptune Water Prize 2017, the focus is on ‘water as the source of life’. On this hike, we head to the popular leisure lake and on to the Langenwanger Au. From here, we hike into the Feistritzgraben to the drinking water reservoir. We then head back to the centre of Krieglach via Malleisten, Massingstraße and Sommersiedlung.

Coming by car from Vienna, take the Krieglach Ost motorway exit and drive towards Krieglach town centre at the roundabout. Turn right at the Alpl junction and you will reach Krieglach's main square. Turn right here and you will reach Bürstadtstraße, the starting point of the hike.
Coming from Graz, take the Mitterdorf motorway exit and then head towards Krieglach at the roundabout. At the Alpl crossroads in Krieglach, turn left and you will reach the main square. Turn right here onto Bürstadtstraße (starting point of the hike).
We start our hike in Bürstadtstraße - at the information board near the primary school. From here we walk along Lastenstraße to the leisure lake. The water and nature adventure area is not only popular with the people of Krieglach - visitors from all over the Mürztal valley enjoy the ambience of this leisure facility. We continue past the Cemex company and turn right through the railway subway. Before the roundabout, we turn left and walk along a side road of the S6 until we reach the OMV petrol station. Here we turn left again and enter the Langenwanger Au. After the railway subway, we turn left again and walk along the railway embankment until we reach the start of an avenue. We keep right towards Feistritz Castle. At the castle, we walk past to the left into the Feistritzgraben to the drinking water reservoir. The path continues along the Hasler access road to Gasthof Annerlbauer and Bussegger until the Lippbauer junction. From here we walk from Massingstraße into the summer settlement in the direction of Krieglach.
The water trails 2 & 3 on the topics ‘Supplier of renewable energy’ & ‘Destructive force of nature’ are also ideas for the next excursions. They are slightly shorter, taking around 2-3 hours to walk. The starting point for both walks is Bürstadtstraße by the information board near the primary school.
By train or bus to Krieglach, the starting point of the hike is directly in the town centre (Bürstadtstraße)
