The variety of ascent options to the Voisthalerhütte (whether to the old or the new) make it so interesting as a destination in its own right. For example, the tour from Seewiesen via the Franzosenkreuz (up to here the local population had once fled during the French Wars) is also perfectly suited for leisurely hikers.
The route from the Seebergsattel via the Seeleiten and the Aflenzer Staritzen including the ascent of the 2,153m high Ringkamp, on the other hand, can only be recommended to sure-footed mountaineers!
The ascent described here from the Aflenzer Bürgeralm (toll road) via the Mitteralm, the Fölzsattel and the Ochsensteig also requires a certain degree of surefootedness and a head for heights.
Of course, the Voisthalerhütte is also a perfect starting point for climbing the 2,277m high Hochschwab and an ideal location for climbing tours in the Karlmauer, the Edelspitzen or the Hochschwab south face.
From the Aflenzer Bürgeralm
A tour that can be made a little easier with a little support leads after the ascent (toll road or chairlift) from Aflenz to the Bürgeralm of the same name via the Schönleitenhaus to the "Voisthaler".
To do this, we start at the Bürgeralm, hike across the ski slope to the Schönleitenhaus and from there continue in a northerly direction over the Zlackensattel (short alpine trail sections) to the Mitteralm (orientation difficult in fog, old shelter hut).
Now our path turns to the northwest and leads over a very alpine trail, past the mighty Hofertalturm, downhill to the Fölzsattel. From here begins the rocky Ochsensteig, which, partly quite exposed, leads directly to the already visible Voisthalterhütte. Return along the same path.
