From Gams you drive east along the Gamsforstrasse to the last farm, from here you continue on foot along the forest road and then after about 1/2 hour turn left into the forest following the markings of the trail on the trees. Continue along the track, crossing the forest road towards the alpine pasture and in the same direction east up to the Goß. Until then about 1 1/2 hours.

After a break, continue south up the ridge and from there head southwest towards the Großer Buchberg. Before the last upswing it goes downhill again. After about 2 1/2 h the summit is reached, behind us a wonderful tour along the ridge with a fantastic panoramic view of the Gesaeuse mountains.

We start the way back west on the rather badly marked but well visible path which leads us south through the Rauchgraben.

We return to our ascent path and take the forest road on the left to the starting point.

If it's too long for you, you can only go to the Goss which is also very worthwhile!

With a wonderful view of the Wild Alps and their mountains up to Hochschwab.
