Augustinerbründl

St. Peter Kbg.

On the Sölkpass, a new chapel was built in 1964 at the current location, which was consecrated to St. Augustine. The Augustinerbründl rises here. A legendary ocular healing water that was already known to the Romans (they were specialists in healing water). It has been fetched by many people over the centuries, as evidenced by votive pictures. As a legend reports, a child of an official and foster man is said to have injured his eye with a knife. The parents immediately sent for Augustinian water and the child's eye was healed. Out of gratitude, the father had a chapel built next to the spring and probably also donated the first votive tablet that testified to the healing of the eye. Unfortunately, all twenty votive pictures were stolen in the late 1960s.

The Augustinian water still has a very high value today and is fetched with pleasure by the local population as well as by many guests from home and abroad. May the saying on the chapel also become your motto: "St. Augustine, help us see with a loving heart".
