During crushing, the soft fibers of the dried flax are freed from the woody parts of the plant and then processed into linen.
The 200-year-old crushing hut and the brick oven for drying were used jointly and renovated in 1991. As it was also used for sweat baths, the hut is also known locally as the "Badstube". In 2012, it was renovated once again by the Peterdorf-Althofen rural youth group. The old equipment has been preserved in its original form.
