The small exhibition collection attempts to vividly present the mining history of this region. Among other things, the "raft kiln", the work of Peter Tunner senior and Peter Tunner junior as well as the first "Bessemerbirne" in the Austrian monarchy are dealt with.
Iron mining and smelting were in operation in Turrach until 1909.
In the Montanmuseum you will experience how the first steel was produced with the Bessemerbirne on the European mainland in 1863. Furthermore, you will find insight into the life of the miners and learn a lot about the history of the place. In addition to handicraft equipment, photos, maps and documents are on display. The guided tours are supplemented by a slide show.
