The Murau hydroelectric power plant was one of the very first Mur power plants to go into operation in 1908. Its primary purpose was to supply the Murau brewery with electricity.
Originally, the Köglhof cataract, a rapids about 10 meters high, was located here. Significant modernizations were carried out in 1954 and 1984. In 2004, a fish migration aid was installed so as not to endanger the biodiversity of the Mur. Today, the power plant is part of the regional energy supply and makes an important contribution to energy independence.
Appointment possible by arrangement with Murauer Stadtwerke.
