HWW-Hiking route: Aspang - Samberg - Schuh-Wirt - Schäffern
This HWW hiking route is part of the Wechselland Historical Long-Distance Hiking Trail (HWW), which tells the story of Wechselland along more than 100 HWW stations. More information can be found at www.wechsel-wandern.at.
On this HWW hiking route you follow the old Samberg trail, part of the Hartberg trail, and come to Schäffern. On this hike, you will pass the Samberg HWW station, where you can learn about the rich mining history of the Wechselland region.

Arrival by car
- Follow the highway A2.
- Exit Edlitz-Aspang: Take exit 77 Edlitz-Aspang.
- B55 towards Aspang: After the exit, turn left onto the B55 Wechsel Straße towards Aspang.
- Through Zöbern: Drive through the village of Zöbern and follow the signs towards Aspang-Markt.
- Enter Aspang-Markt: After about 10 km you will reach Aspang-Markt.
The tour is not signposted throughout. Route guidance with app recommended.
- The HWW hiking route starts in Aspang-Markt.
- It continues past Samberg and Hartberg.
- The tour ends in the village of Schäffern.
At the end of the tour, we recommend stopping for refreshments at the inns in Schäffern.
