The Sonntagskogel tour is a very demanding tour. The ascent is possible all year round and offers a gigantic view of the Großer Grießstein and the beautiful mountain world.

Drive through the village of St. Johann am Tauern, after the Bruckenhauser Inn turn right in the direction of the Bärentalalm. Passing the Franzlbauerhütte you come to the parking lot Bärntal. Your hike begins from there.
Starting from the Bärntal parking lot, follow the signposts in the direction of "Sonntagskogel". The tour starts on the forest road and soon turns into a marked trail, crossing the Bärntal stream several times on footbridges and crossing aids. After you have reached the Triebener Törl after about 1.5 hours, follow the trail to the left in the direction of the Sonntagskogel, the Große Grießstein rises to the right.
This tour is NOT considered "accessible by train and bus" because there is no regular connection.
You can park your car at the parking lot Bärntal!
