The historic Messnerhaus dating from 1720 was purchased and carefully restored by the Brüggemann family a few years ago. The result is a modern pilgrims' hostel in Obdach with a historic ambience for guests from the Murtal region.
The house is exclusively non-smoking and is rented out to families, married couples and pilgrims. A campfire evening can be organised in the garden on special request. A small private fitness room is available, which can be used at your own risk with a separate release from liability. Pets are generally allowed as long as they do not chase our tame runner ducks.
In your free time, Obdach invites you to go hiking and skiing. A FIS ski piste is within walking distance and, depending on the weather, a natural cross-country ski trail runs past the house on foot. Furthermore, the Rieseralm family ski area and the cross-country ski trail on the Hohe Ranach can be reached in a few minutes by car.
In the immediate vicinity there is a large playground, a mountain bike pump track, a beach volleyball court and tennis courts. Riding lessons can be arranged in the village or in the surrounding area depending on the discipline (riding, jumping, dressage, sitting school). In spring and autumn there are guided 3-day rides from St. Andrä to Slovenia for very experienced riders (one of the longest gallop routes is 10 minutes at a stretch).
