Julian Grabmayer and Band - Album Release Show ‘Die Wölt steht nimma long’
WeizThe world is no longer long? And that is to be celebrated?
If it is up to the young Austropop artist Julian Grabmayer, then yes, because his self-titled album will be released on April 24, 2025!
In his typically varied manner, the street-savvy full-blooded musician skillfully navigates on the new record from the heart-wrenching ballad "Bis die Wölt untergeht" to the light-footed uptempo song "Taunzn".
With "Papierflieger," he gifts us a nostalgic look back into his own childhood, and as soon as he turns the "Zindschlissl," we are practically sitting with him in the old VW bus heading towards the sunset.
But what would an Austrian songwriter be without a proper dose of humor and social critique? He dishes out witty jabs instead of sidelong glances in "Schickimicki," packs in a hefty portion of self-irony in "I bin goa net so schiach," and then hits much more serious political tones with "Hortes Stickl Holz."
With "Wann i amol stirb," he perhaps delivers the next Styrian state anthem, while "Net wohr sein" and "Auf die Goschn" tackle life and its challenges in his usual blunt dialect manner.
The minimalism celebrated in "Für mi is gnua" is not only equally authentic and sympathetic but also rounds off the album musically.
The broad spectrum of songs is held together by handmade arrangements that could just as easily come from a studio in Nashville.
Live, accompanied by his excellent band, one can look forward to many new songs, but also well-known pieces from his pen.
Whether the world will still be standing after this celebration will likely only be known if one is there!
