SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE PLAY
"LesMiserables" is a new musical production based on the novel of the same name by Victor Hugo. The life story of Jean Valjean and his antagonist police inspector Javert is brought to the stage in a lively, moving, dramatic, exaggerated and colorful way. Jean Valjean is released from prison. No house will take him in, only Bishop Myriel of Digne opens the door for him and treats him with respect. That night, however, he steals the host's silverware and disappears. The thief is caught and brought before the bishop the next day. He demands that the gendarmes release Jean Valjean, as he has "given" him the silverware. And to Jean Valjean: "My brother, you forgot to take the silver candlestick with you." This key experience moves Jean Valjean to change his life and become a good person. Will he succeed in putting his resolutions into practice? Jean Valjean lives in a dramatic time, in an environment of great misery, coupled with a revolutionary mood in Paris and confronted with a wide variety of personal visions of life and the future. On the run for a lifetime in terms of identity, he tries to find a satisfactory answer to this last question: should he stand by his true name, his innermost self, even if he runs the risk of losing his loved ones? Jean-Valjean and his fellow human beings are not isolated; there are two mysterious, opposing forces at work in the background, associated with the light and the darkness. They are engaged in a violent battle for every single person, every single soul, for the future of humanity, as it were.
