ORGAN HIKING
Sacred art and cultural tourism
The two neighboring tourism associations of ApfelLand-Stubenbergsee and Pöllauer Tal Nature Park have developed a project with the LEADER region "Zeitkultur Oststeirisches Kernland" in which they focus on the sacred cultural treasures of the two regions and "organ hiking". More than a dozen churches and their organs and bells are presented and made acoustically tangible. The churches are from the Gothic, Baroque and Classical periods, have been extensively restored and are part of the sacred and artistic life in Eastern Styria. Together with the gastronomic offer in their area, the traditional "church innkeepers", they have always been places where locals meet pilgrims and hikers. With the sacred art magazine created as part of the project, the various brochures, an audio guide and other tourist offers, visitors learn a lot of interesting and worth knowing things about the cultural treasures.

There are 14 organs in the apple country and nature park Pöllauer Tal, whereby the oldest organ dates back to 1680, the youngest is 25 years old, organs with e.g. B. 39 registers (i.e. large) up to 4 registers (i.e. small) in the churches of Eastern Styria. Each opens up its own spectrum of sounds. Hiking trails connect them now. The organs and hiking tours are prepared using a digital tour guide (Outdooractive" - "Organ Hiking") and audio guide (Hearonymus), so that not only the bells, organs and church information can be heard with the smartphone, but also the route from one church to another on the digital tour planner can be seen. Enjoy the art and cultural treasures of the Pöllauer Tal nature park and the apple country Stubenbergsee in all its splendor in your own personal way, whether by day or by night. The audio guide lets you discover details, explains connections and reveals many a secret.

Experience the beauty and culture of the Pöllauer Tal and ApfelLand Stubenbergsee nature parks, discover the hiking trails and impressive cultural treasures of East Styria. Look forward to an unforgettable and innovative tour for independent travelers and combine public transport and tours in the churches of the Pöllauer Tal nature park and ApfelLand Stubenbergsee in a special way. Use the free apps as the perfect travel companion. An audio guide is available free of charge for interested visitors who would like to find out additional information about the eventful past, exciting details about the architecture and interesting facts about selected art treasures, paintings and sculptures during their individual tour of the various churches.
