Market town of Birkfeld
BirkfeldThe market town of Birkfeld is part of the beautiful Joglland Waldheimat region.
Birkfeld is located in the center of the upper Feistritz Valley and, since the municipal merger in 2015, has consisted of the districts of Birkfeld, Waisenegg, Gschaid, Koglhof and Haslau. Numerous excursion destinations, such as the Felber chocolate factory, make Birkfeld a popular place for the whole family.
A highlight of the municipality is the Feistritztalbahn, the historic steam locomotive takes you from Weiz via Anger to Birkfeld and back again. Up-to-date information about the timetable can be found at www.feistritztalbahn.at.
The section of the R8 Feistritztal cycle path from Birkfeld to Ratten is also particularly popular with families. You cycle along a disused railroad line for around 20 kilometers, past the Joglland-Seehütte, with a gradient of only around 1 per mille.
As the municipality is the home town of the Edelseer, the “Hoamatwanderweg” and the Edlseer Hoamathaus have been built in recent years.
Dear guests, opening hours are subject to change, for your safety please contact the Market town of Birkfeld directly.
