Peter Rossegger has always seen the parish church in St. Kathrein am Hauenstein as his favorite church.
"I have seen Cologne and Milan Cathedral and St. Peter's Church in Rome, but the sweet mood of heaven as in the white, light church at Kathrein am I couldn't find Hauenstein anywhere else."
(Peter Rosegger)
The parish church of St. Kathrein am Hauenstein has a very important place in the stories and tales of Peter Rosegger. Rosegger proved his love for the church even in the most difficult time in 1904. It was partially destroyed in a village fire and it was Rosegger who, as a poet and writer known well beyond the country's borders, started a fundraising campaign for the reconstruction of the church church in national and international newspapers.
