Detailed Slow Trips experience description
During this experience, you will be personally welcomed by the boss of the Pieber fruit farm. While you taste the various elderberry products, such as elderberry jam, elderberry juice..., Manuela Pieber explains everything about the end product elderberry. Here at the Pieber farm, only the red berries are processed and not the blossom.
After the tasting, you set off with her to the elderberry plantations. Along the way, you will also learn myths and legends about the tree of Frau Holle.
“An elder tree rises when a dead person has found his rest...”; “There used to be such a shrub on every farm or in every ridge...” You will explore these and many other beliefs together with her.
Once you arrive at the plantation, she explains the parts of the tree in detail: blossom, berries, bark and leaves.
She will also tell you how you can bring this wonderful shrub back into your garden, what you need to look out for and how to prune it.
On the way back along the Feistritz river, you can enjoy the beautiful region around Anger. At the end, Manuela will also give you a cutting of an elder tree, which you can take home with you to plant in your garden.
