Active in the Eastern Styria

Numerous attractive sports and recreation offers are available in the Eastern Styria year round. There is always something to experience in Austria’s garden, no matter what the season!

Aside from hiking, cycling and water fun, there are plenty of other opportunities for recreation. Whether you view the Eastern Styria from the lofty heights of a hot air balloon or from the ground on horseback. Of course, you may prefer to play a quiet round of golf or replenish your energy with hydrotherapy. Climbing is a bit more adventurous, not quite as high as a hot air balloon but you should have a good head for heights.

Golf

Golfing with a magnificent, panoramic view of the Schöckl or in the romantic atmosphere behind the Gut Freiberg Castle, in the midst of our hills and alpine landscape. Two golf courses in the Eastern Styria offer variety and excellent quality with 18 or 9 holes. The golf courses offer tournaments and lessons.

Hot air balloon rides

The hilly landscape of the Eastern Styria is delightful when viewed from the ground. Its beauty becomes even more apparent from 1,000 to 2,000 m in the air. This has made Austria’s garden a Mecca for hot air balloons since many years.

Riding

A splendid network of trails through the various landscapes in Austria’s garden is available to riders. Stables offer guest stalls for holidays on horseback and there are many courses and lessons for those who want to learn how to ride.

Climbing

You will find climbing walls, an ice waterfall and boulder installations in the Eastern Styria. Those who prefer to enjoy the climbing experience outside in the sunshine conquer the Hochlantsch, the most striking peak in the Almenland Nature Park.

Tennis

Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev and others have made this trendy sport increasingly popular. Local private tennis courts ensure that you can swing your tennis racquet while you are on holiday. You will also find public tennis courts and recreational facilities in the sporty Eastern Styria.
