By car from Graz
To get to Pöllau bei Hartberg from Graz, take the A2 motorway in the direction of Vienna. After about 30 kilometres, take the Gleisdorf West exit and then take the B54 towards Hartberg/Pöllau. Follow the B54 for about 25 kilometres until you reach Pöllau.
By car from Salzburg
To get to Pöllau bei Hartberg from Salzburg, take the A1 motorway towards Vienna. Drive about 110 kilometres to exit 109 (Salzburg junction). There change to the A9 motorway in the direction of Graz. At St. Michael, follow the S6 towards Kapfenberg. Continue on the S6 until the Krieglach exit. From there, take the B72 and then the L405 to Pöllau.
From the center of Pöllau or Schlosspark (with permanent parking spaces), head east past the former Augustinian monastery (castle/church) to the traffic circle, the entrance to Pöllau-Mitte. Follow the red-white-red markings no. 942 and the green signs "Hirschbirnweg" and "Wallfahrerweg Pöllauberg". At the traffic circle, cross the L406 country road and walk north past the Raiba bank along the sidewalk for approx. 100 m until you turn right into Narnhoferweg. The path then climbs steeply uphill until the Way of the Cross begins with its masonry and frescoed stations. Following the Stations of the Cross, we walk or make a pilgrimage to the Calvary Church, which is located in a hollow by the stream. Here you have the opportunity for a prayer or a rest before heading uphill.
Calvary - Pöllauberg
A few meters after the Kalvarienberg church, the red-white-red markings lead over a bridge into the high forest. We cross this and pass the Goldsberghof inn. We then walk along meadow and forest paths with wonderful views of the nature park landscape of the Pöllau Valley in the direction of Pöllauberg. Once you arrive in the garden village of Pöllauberg, the first thing you should do is visit the beautiful High Gothic pilgrimage church, and the second thing you should do is take the time to wander through the unique, freely accessible themed gardens. Experience how the themes of lilies, roses, wine, flowers, herbs, schnapps, piety and seasons, to each of which a garden is dedicated, have been prepared. Afterwards, take a well-earned rest in one of the inns on the Pöllauberg.
Pöllauberg - Brandstatt
From the center of Pöllauberg, we follow the signs "Hirschbirnweg" just before the elementary school past the Schnapsgarten and meet our hiking trail red-white-red no. 946 "St. Anna - Hartberg" at a junction. We follow this over a few steps and then turn left through the high forest, continue on an asphalted house driveway, cross a municipal road in "Ölhof" and then turn right onto the forest path. We follow this path first along the meadow and later through the high forest until we reach a small chapel at the "Bachlex" estate in Brandstatt.
Brandstatt - Muggental - St. Anna
We walk along the asphalt road for approx. 800 m to the Reiterer fruit farm. At the "Oberneuberg GH Scherf" bus stop, we turn left, follow the red-white-red markings no. 946 and walk leisurely along the asphalt road for approx. 3 km to the pilgrimage church of St. Anna.
