Moor nature trail, Teichalm
The Teichalm raised moor is 7,500 to 9,000 years old and could have arisen from a lake. The raised moor that still exists today is probably the last remnant of what was once a large, contiguous raised moor landscape in the valley floor of the Teich- and Sommeralm. Following the small raised moor there is a swamp forest and low moor meadows that are very species-rich, for example: B. the cotton grass, the purple moorland gentian, the carnivorous sundew or various types of orchids. The wooden plank path through the moor was completely renewed in 2020, the boards along the path provide information about the flora and fauna along the path.
The Teichalmsee right next to it, with its wooden ox, is the symbol of the Almenland Nature Park. Created in 1972, it is actually a flood retention basin, but today it is hard to imagine life without it as an excursion and recreational destination.
