Premiere is on Friday, 11 October 2024 at 7 pm. "Der steirische Faust" is a new edition of a classic by Prof Gerd Linke.

Dr Faust is old, a scientist through and through. He has long since lost his faith, if he ever had any. Nothing in the world seems interesting anymore. Except perhaps one thing: black magic. And that calls Mephisto onto the scene, who hopes for an easy game to capture Faust's soul.

Inspired by Goethe, Prof Gerd Linke wrote the Styrian Faust.
Initially, the idea was just to make a cabaret for the Graz cabaret group "Die Grazbürsten", but then it became a full-length play, which he performed with his theatre group, the "Theater am Hof", on 13 October 2007. The theatre group subsequently acquired the copyrights for the play.
This year, on the 10th anniversary of Prof. Gerd Linke's death, the "Theater am Hof" is once again performing the Styrian Faust in memory of its former director - a play with many parallels to Goethe's work, but still very different, as Linke himself said: "A Faust in Styrian dialect".
