In historic wagons, you travel through the Upper Mur Valley, along the green Mur, through picturesque mountain scenery, past forests and meadows. An experience that makes the heart of every railway enthusiast beat faster. In Stadl an der Mur, the filling of the water tender of the steam locomotive can be observed and photographed. Musical entertainment and culinary delicacies on the train round off this railway experience.
During the summer months, steam train journeys take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays or Sundays from Murau to Stadl an der Mur and Tamsweg. You can also make your dream of driving a locomotive come true on the Murtalbahn: if you want to operate the controls, valves and locomotive whistle yourself, you can try it on an amateur locomotive tour. Individual special trips for groups or for special occasions such as birthdays, weddings or anniversaries are possible all year round.
