The Werlitsch winery is located in the border area between southern Styria and Slovenia.
Due to the partly flat, partly steep location of the vineyards, the soil type can be perfectly adapted to the wine. At the Werlitsch winery, they take biodynamic cultivation very seriously in order to produce wine sustainably. The estate is managed by Ewald and Brigitte Tscheppe, who produce exclusively white wine on their 9 hectares. The vines, which are on average 25 years old, are mainly vinified as a cuvée.
The wines are aged for at least two years in wooden barrels before bottling. Since the 2010 vintage, there have also been single-varietal wines such as Morillon from Opok and Sauvignon Blanc from Opok, and also a wine fermented entirely on the skins, which Tscheppe calls "orange white wine" because of the resulting play of colors.
